Genes or choice??

Okay so here is a bit of a contraversial topic. There are many scientists that say that being gay, transgendered etc are linked to having certain genes. So I am quite curious as to how many people believe this and how many people do not. I know that some religious people do not believe this. I myself do not have a certain opinion on this one. What if your child comes and tells you that they are gay or something like that? Would you accept them or deny them?

I have to go with something in the genes. Now what and how it happens I don't know. The reason I say this is I don't know who would willingly pick being gay, when it makes for a rough life, more so then life already is. The prejudice against gays, the homophobes that pick, torture and just wont leave them alone. So why would anyone willingly pick being gay?
In fact I have a gay daughter and not only do I accept her, I love her, she is my daughter and I just want her to succeed and be happy in her life as I do all my other children.

What if there is pyromania gene? Or a child abuse gene? Are we totally determined by our genes? Will we be excusing every behavior with a scientific explanation or are people still responsible for their own actions?..............just food for thought.

i think some get it from genes. they say it is hereditary. when you have relatives that are gay one way or another your children maybe gay. but some people say it is adapted from the environment as well. when you are with gay people then eventually you will be gay. environment plays a big role to our lives. so that is how i think it is hereditary and some are because of environment. choice is the answer to both. if you wanted to be gay then it is your choice whether it is hereditary or environment.
