Well, if you like thrillers, I'll recommend anything by John Saul (I particularly enjoyed Shadows and Manhattan Hunt Club), Dean Koontz (Mr. Murder and The Eyes of Darkness were great), Harlan Coben (The Woods was awesome...or maybe it was Into the Woods? Something about Woods, anyway!), or Steve Berry (The Third Secret was my favorite by him, but I've loved them all). If you like fantasy, I'd recommend Harry Potter if you haven't read them, or the Inheritence series (Eragon, etc) by Christopher Paolini. I also enjoyed the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, but if you start that one, you're in a for a long haul - it's 13 books long, and the first book took at least four chapters to really get my interest peaked.
