In older days my mother used to send letters to her relatives. She used to write letter in many phases. She writes letter and keeps it with her. Then she remembers something else and writes it down. But now every thing is so fast and easy, That letter writing almost doesn't exist. We talk on phone. We send emails. We send SMSs. But do no longer write letters. Do you write letters?

I guess whether we like it or not, it's already been replaced by electronic mails and text messages and has made writing letters a thing of the past. Personally, I do miss writing to relatives and friends as much as receiving letters from them. Honestly, I don't get to do these things anymore because I'm too preoccupied with a lot of matters; particularly doing my job here in the office and being a wife and mom to our only child and daughter. But more than a decade ago, I used to write letters to 2 of my younger siblings. I was a college student here in the city then living with my mom's younger sister and her family, while my parents and siblings used to live in the province. I often get lonely and when I do, I resolve to writing letters to my siblings; as my way of still being there with them in 'thoughts'. I must admit that I often do miss them. If I'm not mistaken, I also have some letters and card souvenirs from my college friends whom I haven't seen for quite a long time now. I do miss them, too, but I guess people change priorities from time to time. Admittedly, I'm one of them because I have my own family now to attend to.

Hello,Puja! Prior to 1995 we were required to write letters as the mobile phone use was very limited and the use of computer was not known to all.But presently we can talk over mobile phone with friends and relations at far off places and hence feel no need of writing of letters.I think I had written my last letter about twelve years back and since than never felt the need of writing a letter. So also I have not received any letter from any quarters for about the same period.thanx.

I think the last time i wrote letters was in the early 80`s when i was working in one of the Gulf countries. In those days computers were non-existant in my country and also where i worked so there was no other means of communication except letter writing and of course the telephone.Nowadays with the internet, email, sms, and the cell phone communicating has become a cakewalk. Besides people do not have any time to write pages and pages of long letters which i used to do in the good old days. Of course letters are still written as a part of office work but the computer has definitely taken over and made things easy and faster.

Personally I own a Palm Centro this phone has microsoft on it and it also has a memo section. When there is something I have to "write down" that way I remember I pull out my phone and type it in there. If I have to give some information to someone instead of pulling out a piece of paper and writing down I text it. And yes between most of my friends and I if we got to remember something it's "hey text that to me so i can remember." Writing things down is not often used unless of course I can't use my phone for the situation... but then again that why we have email to communicate. :D
