What is the difference of www and www2?

I have seen sites using www2 rather than the usual www in front of their websites. Are those sites using www2 are special ones? Lol! I'm just curious. Is www already reached its maximum limit that's why www2 existed? What is the difference, do you know?

basically it's the same. www1 and www2 are used to reroute to a secondary server to take off load from the primary server. this can either be because the primary server is going down for maintenance, or because the domain has an enormous load. it's got nothing to do with www having reached it's limit. hope this helps ;)
