Time Lapse

When this season stated on Desperate Housewives, the producers chose to fast-forward a few years and the left viewers with a time lapse where everyone seemed to have lost part of what happened to the women on Wisteria Lane. Did anyone else feel a little cheated by that lapse in time because we missed a whole portion of the women's lives that we had followed so diligently??

I was very disappointed as well. I feel like there was way too much that happened that would have benefited from explanation. I would love to have seen how Gaby lost control of her life and her children. How did she let them get so out of shape, or do they have a glandular condition? What happened with that evil little girl that Tom spawned with another woman? How did Bree not make her adoption of her grandson legal and binding? And how did Mike and Susan fall apart? These all are important things that would have been nice to see.

I am left wondering if that little girl ever visits. Were her maternal grandparents able to set her straight or did she stay manipulative? At the rate she was going, she would have ended up in juvenile detention for causing grievous bodily harm to another child who got in her way. I was also wondering about the new woman's daughter. She turned out not to be her biological daughter, didn't she? I seem to remember something about a missing scar on her arm. Did she forgive her for lying to her all her life? Thanks for best response!

Actually, you brought up something that I've wondered about for almost every single episode since that little girl disappeared. I keep waiting for Tom's other little girl to show up again or for the producers to tell us what happened to her (I mean, they told us what was happening to her but still, there needs to be some kind of follow up there!)

I just hope they can come up with a fresh and juicy mystery which relates with those women because I don't know why they just keep describing women's lives and not continue talk about what Edie's new husband would do to Mike.

I know, the storyline's have become a little stale and if I wasn't already so hooked on the show I don't think I would still be watching it every week. It's just become monotonous and repitative so that you can pretty much predict whats going to happen before it does.

They went ahead 5 years. A lot happens in a persons life in that amount of time. I'm not happy with that decision.

Exactly! I think that we missed so much that it seems like the show is lacking that glue that should cement it!

At first I felt like that. I was really upset because they fast forwarded 5 yrs. As I watch every week, they do the flashbacks that let us know things that have happened in the previous 5 yrs. I am ok with it now and actually like it now that they are 5 yrs ahead.

Yeah, I think it gave us an opportunity to see more of thier lives that we may not have seen otherwise because the show has to end eventually and we wil get a chance to have delved further into their lives this way. I do like the flashbacks but I wish they would carry on and at least add more of a current story line to it!

They did an episode where they tried to show some of the things that happened in their lives but it doesn't make up for cheating us out of those years. I still hate that they did that. It seems as if they're running out of storylines and fresh ideas to keep people interested. I don't know very many people who like the gap.

Yeah I saw that, their anniversary episode. It does seem like their older episodes had more zest and appeal to them but I find that I'm already a loyal follower of the show so I can't just stop watching.
