I've read this book but I couldn't grasp some of the metaphors in this book. Any comment? or any crtitics on this book?

I have not read this Marquez book, Patzi_md. But I read another one of his and remember that I had a similar problem grasping metaphors. It seems I remember thinking to myself that it was like he was trying too hard at times. I still enjoyed reading him.
