And mylot came to my mind instantly, nothing better to answer my queries. I was wondering about what Phillipines is really like? How are the people there? Is there anything I must bear in my mind before I go there and anything at all i need to know as a tourist on some purpose visiting there.....Your suggestions would be invaluable, Bodhi

I don't know which part of the Philippines you'll be destined to work. Because Philippines is composed of diffirent islands it is difficult for me to suggest which place to go best since I don't know where you'll be working. The best place to go would ne to visit Baguio city. Next is Boracay thats the famous tourist destination in the my country if you love to go swimming. You can also check out www.tourism.gov.ph for more info.

You might be working in Davao or nearby cities. Thats also 1 and a half hours ride from manila. I'll be travelling to the Philippines in March. Hopefully, I'll meet you there. I'm from Davao myself. If indeed that is the place you're going I suggest you visit the Philippine Eagle Conservatory of your a nature lover as well as the Samal Island Beach Resort if you love swimming. That's our local version of Boracay's prestine white sand beach. The place is one of the top 20 most livable city in Asia. The city is peaceful and people are friendly. Hope you'll be travelling there to get to see the city.

Hi bodhisatya. Just make sure it is not one of the north islands. There is a lot of trouble and no mater were you are watch your things. in all the major city you will not have any trouble finding a place to stay.if you are getting per diem or money to stay you can make some good cash. just live will the natives do. don't stay at the big hotel.

Hi Rock Collector, your suggestion is really invaluable. But i was wondering is it really a kind of threat to stay at a good hotel. I think my company would arrange us to stay at a hotel as far as i know. Please do reply back... Bodhi

Hi. Yes it would be nice to stay in the hotel with the company. but, if the company allows it you can stay at a native hotel for about $25 a night and if they are paying 125 to 150 a night. you bank $100 a night.I know what you are thinking a $25 hotel is going to be bad. in the P.I. its not, $ 25 in the P.I. is like $ 100 here in the state. I don't know how mush you have been in Asia or how your company is. I am a older man that has done this all my life. my company knows to ask how i want to do this kind of thing. for the first day or two stay at the company hotel and then find a nice place to make money.I also have a better time with the native away from the job

Hey great spot to visit. So you know Philippines is one of the countries visited by the tourists in South East Asia. I'm not sure where in Philippines you will stay, but most likely tourists and business travelers stay in Manila. If you are here for vacation, I'd suggest you to visit Boracay and Palawan. Boracay is the 6th best beaches in the world, a lot of tourists and travelers go there and I've been there twice. While in Palawan there are many places there to visit, but I suggest the Underground River, the longest river in the world that travels inside a cave, that's not famous and well-known and now top of the competition of Wonders of the World. However, if you will be in Manila, places to visit are Makati and the main Manila, somewhere in Malate and Adriatico, where bars and restaurants are all over the place. If you have any questions you may comment me back. =)

I don't know too much about the Philippines, other than what I read in the NEWS. I happened to work with a few Philippinos, who were fun to work with and interesting to dialog with. I would strongly suggest you contact the Philippines Embassy in your country and get a Brochure from them. That will give you a first hand knowledge of the people , their customs, and the country. In other words a - tourist guide - of the country. Good luck, and enjoy your future trip.

Welcome to the Philippines bod! I'm sure you'll love it here. Don't worry about the people here, we're kind and very accomodating. You just be careful with your belongings as always (..even if you're not in the philippines). Be sure to know the proper fare for public transportations so they won't be asking much of what is required. That would be all i guess because generally, we love foreigners visiting our place.

hi bodhisatya! I'm happy you'll be visiting the Philippines. The country is lovely, you can find many good tourist spots to visit. As for the people, you would find great hospitality and almost all the people here like to share a smile to anyone. Very accomodating indeed. I suggest you visit Coron Island in Palawan, there's one beach there that is so beautiful, the Banol Beach. Perfect white sand and clear water, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy you're stay there. Also, don't miss out Pagudpud Ilocos Norte. Has a nice beach and clean places to visit to. Enjoy your vacation! Happy trip!

If you're first destination is Manila, then you could go first to the Manila Ocean Park, if you like flowers, you could go to the Orchidarium. I also suggest to visit the mediterranean island in palawawn. it is already a nominee for the one of the best wonders in the world. Next is Boracay, well-known for its white sand.
