What would you Say if you were already hurt... And than you neighbor says.....?

Recently, my neighbor/ friend [I quess] had a beautiful baby girl. I went to the hospital to see it and it was a beautiful baby. I felt like tearing up and just so jeoulous of the situation. After I left I got really upset and ended up eating a bunch of "junk" because I"m an emotional eater. And finally I have made peace with it. He finally came home from the hospital and her house to come home to his own house. We talked a little bit. And I told him that my husband and I have talked and we are thinking very soon that we are going to have a baby. He just looked at me and say "me and my girlfriend don't ever think you guys will have a baby." He told me it wasn't to be hurtful but it kind of was. I tried blowwing it off and I did until later that night when I started to think about it. He knows my desire to have a child and than he says something like that!?! Was that truly right or do you think he was just trying to be mean?
