If you outlive age 99, then it matures meaning you get the Face amount/life insurance coverage at age 99. If you just need a live insurance for a couple of years and you are on a tight budget, you can get a term life insurance instead. A Term Insurance is renewable. It could be yearly or every 5 years renewable (it depends on the life insurance company). If you don't renew, the coverage stops.
