This story is so sad. The twenty year old model contracted what appeared to be an ordinary urinary tract infection. For whatever reason the infection spread uncontrollably throughout her entire body. In an attempt to save her life they amputated her hands and feet. Unfortunately for this young woman the medical efforts did not contain the infection and she died today. http:.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090124/ap_en_ce/lt_brazil_model_dies

This tragic story is another example of the overuse of antibacteria products and medicines when they are not needed which leads to resistant strains of bacteria. You can't find a liquid soap anymore that isn't antibacterial but just plain soap is plenty good enough for household use as long as people wash their hands long enough(15 secs). This is becoming an epidemic problem and it is being brought on by everyone thinking that antibacterial products must be used for everything. So that results in more and more strains of bacteria that are more and more resistant. This problem which has been in hospitals for some time is now moving out into everyday life and places.

I agree with you entirely on this one. We have become so phobic about germs that we overuse antibacterial products and now are paying the price for it. Now that is has moved out of the hospitals into our everyday lives, we could see more and more of these tragic stories though.
