What criteria and reasons do you choose to enter a discussion? I will give you mine. Please write-in about yours. I enter a discussion if it interests me. That means the subject is of interest to me - I may or may not know much about that subject, but I am very interested to know. For instance, I entered a discussion on Martial Arts.I did not know a thing. But used the discussion as learning ground. I enter a discussion if I know something on the subject and I have a clear view on it This one will cover the majority of my posts on myLot. I enter a discussion if someone is misrepresenting something I know and care about This applies to subjects like Religion where things are generally fuzzy. I see a lot of people take the Religious Books too literally and get into all kinds of arguments. I would like to clear things up as this is one area I have worked right from childhood.I enter a discussion because it is Question from an area of my knowledge and experience. There was this question under Management whether TQM is being used in companies. There was this question about how to distinguish between stroke and a severe cold induced leg pain. There were several discussions about how one should learn Correct English as a non-native speaker of English and so on and so forth. I have begun several discussions but there are some for which there have been NO Responses. The one facility I would love to have in myLot is for the author of a discussion to pull it down, if he feels there are no responses and it simply eats the memory. I have seen many sites where I had been and am blogging, I find this Edit facility to correct mistakes(Grammar, spelling, rewriting for clarity of expression and conceptual and the like)a very useful part of the choices given to a member. What do you guys feel?

Usually I just browse discussions' topics and there would be topics that will catch my attention. It's like an idea will just hit me. Usually I just browse through today's top discussions and my interests.

I also like to respond than to create a new thread. I was able to create some but those were years ago. There are also times that I respond to new discussions especially those that has no response yet :)

I do that too.I use first "my interests" and view the topics for the shortest route to landing discussions of my interests. Sometimes I will be in a mood to post on a topic of some specific interest, then I go from interests seeking the icon of my interests and search out a topic. I am more wary of starting a discussion because every too often I found there is zero response.

Thanks for the response. It means that you answer to a discussion from your interests only and not by the topic posted.

For me, alot of times it depends on my mood. I mean, of course I try to respond to discussions that interest me, but sometimes a discussion that interests me, is just too heated for me to want to get into at that moment. I don't like to bash other people or call the stupid and sadly I see that a lot here at mylot. I don't mind intelligent discussions especially when the people disagree, but when the name calling starts, it turns me away. Then there are times that I just feel like sticking with easy things. I really like discussions where I can share my likes and dislikes. I also try to respond to discussions asking for help. I enjoy giving advice so those are pretty easy for me. All in all, I think I hit quite a few discussions with different topics, but it almost always depends on what type of mood I am in.

If I understand you well, you may necessarily see if it was your friend who started the discussion. Isn't that so?

I usually choose discussions which i could relate to because if i could not relate to it i could not thing of anything to post. I like to share experiences with other members here and i also like to hear from them. I could learn lots of things here from people from other places and i think its really cool. Its also nice to share points of view to other people here and at the same time hear also their views. I like keeping an open mind so that i could learn lots of things and at the same time enjoy the company of other mylotters around.

Learning and sharing experiences are a very good reason to enter into discussions. Yeah, it would benefit both the starter of the discussion as well as the one who is contributing to it. Thanks for the response.

I would like to answer only certain discussions because am verypicky in having a conversation and talks. That's the same way of mine is reflected in mylotting too.I only answer up questions that are liked by me and of which i have some knowledge about.my most answered discussion is Qusetions and answers where there is a combination of all kinds of questions pertaining from life to mylot, thats why i would like to respond these disussions. Then i would pick up music and music artists like eminem, akon, justin timberlake and so on.I would respond to discussions under mylot.Make extra money is the one where is use to comment on discussions started by other mylotters

Thanks for the response. It is quite understandable one picks up questions of relevance to one's interests only.
