I love reading! It's one of my favourite pasttime altogether and well it was cultivated from young. It is also a great way to past time when there is absolutely nothing else to do at home or on the bus. =D From young, I have loved reading all sorts of books, from romance to horror to thriller to real life fiction, so long as the plot is interesting. Hehe. Currently I am hooked onto Rachel Lee, John Lutz and Bentley Little as I love the way they put their plot together and string the entire plot to something that is riveting. I am proud to confess that once I start reading their books, I won't stop until the very last page! Well, I do read in bed. It's a bad habit but I don't care as it is the only place that I can read comfortably and it gives me the peace and quiet that I need for reading. Usually, I would start my books once I get ready for bed (sleeping) and read till I fall asleep (which is not most of the time lol). I would lie down in bed in the sleeping position and start reading while lying on my side. It's really a bad habit as it is bad for my eyes. But as every 'bookworm', who cares? Lol. How about you? Well, here I wish you happy reading and happy mylotting too!!

Sitting upright straight on the bed just to read is not a really comfortable position to be in, isn't it? Lol, that kind of takes the fun out of reading because of the uncomfortableness. I do agree with you that reading in bed is not a good habit to have as it kind of spoils our eyesight and we are forcing our eyes to work harder, and in the process corroding our eyesight. It's no wonder the majority of Asians ends up buying spectacles! Hehe, nowadays, I have changed my position to be reading on the floor. Makes one wonder, is there any difference to that? Lol!

Reading is a good habit, but neither is reading in bed. Maybe you can try another position. What about starting with sitting straight in bed?lol

Yeah, reading in bed helps me to sleep too, actually reading makes me sleepy anytime. I can be sitting up in the living room and reading, and pretty soon I'll be asleep..lol.

I have always had a strange result from reading in bed. Given the fact that I am in bed and generally tired, it is not uncommon for me to fall asleep while reading - though sometimes I will get so engrossed in a book as to stay awake and continue reading until the sun comes up! The odd thing that happens, though, is that when I fall asleep reading, my mind tends to continue the story! I 'dream' what happens next in the story. Of course, my 'dreamed' version of the continuing events and the author's version do not coincide - but it sure makes for an interesting story!

I read almost every night in bed before I go to sleep. It's my last way of unwinding for the night. When I was taking classes for my degree, there were some nights I'd read my textbook in bed, but not many because I'd fall asleep.

i do enjoy reading books, however it is hard for me to read in bed mainly because there isn't enough lighting. i've tried reading in bed but i just end up straining my eyes. i thought about buying another lamp for my room, but i decided that i'll just read during the day

I usually read in a bed but not before my sleep. I go to night sleep too late to be able to read anything useful, maybe sometimes I read through a newspaper or magazine but not a book. I read books in my bed during my free time in a day. I usually make tea and prepare some snacks to eat, and read lying few cushions so I am comfortable.

How could so many people read in bed? I think it's a good habit though. But as for me I'm so tired by the end of the day that I go to sleep almost immediately. The few days when I'm not tired I prefer to reply to mylot. ;-)

Hi, No, I don't. I believe Reading is a Serious effort, by itself(whether U read a light subject book even). I want to respect the creator(writer), thus I read sitting--in my reading table. =Lahiri,Kolkata,India.

I agree that reading is a serious effort.Thats why I dont read textbooks in bed. They are always serious, right? However, reading in bed is relaxing, yet its not very comfortable, and its also bad for your eys.At daytime, I prefer read sitting by my reading table. Have a good day!

Since I started reading, my favorite place to read is in my bed. I am more relaxed and comfortable reading while hugging my pillow or feeling the sheets of my bed. And I put my books in my bedside so anytime I want to read I can just reach my books. Sometimes i fall asleep while reading thats why its a good thing I read in bed.

Hi Sweety, Yes I sometimes read in bed. It depends, because I read about everywhere in the house! When I really want to relax and enjoy a book, I tend to take a long hot bath.

Reading books before going to bed is the only time I get(sometimes I do try to take out time to read inbetween). So normally I sit on the bed and read, but sit in upright position so that it doesn't put strain on my eyes. As soon as I start getting drowsy, I stop reading.

Or if the book is extremely attractive and you couldnt help but keep reading.

I don't read that much anymore, but I used to read an awful lot in bed! I used to stay up until as late as 4am if the book I was reading happened to be incredibly exciting with a good storyline! I think reading is a lovely thing to do, as it broadens the imagination and helps us to educate ourselves about a lot of things.

I read in bed whenever i can. I love to settle down with a book and generally after a while i fall asleep. I have a pile of reading material on my side of the bed and i have another pile in the bathroom too. I read whenever possible. I carry a book in my bag when i go on a long bus journey or flight and try to read, but it is not very comfortable doing that while travelling by bus..

Sometimes, I also carry a book while taking a bus, but I seldom read ! Its usually not very comfortable.

I also like reading book. I cant remember any thing that I studied in bed normally coursebook because you need great attention to read course book. But I like to read ebooks from mobile when I am in bed. One thing, you cant remember a single chapter of course book even you read twice with great attention where as once you read love story or anything besides course book you can remember it for whole life, isnt it funny ?

Its a nice book. You can finish in no more than 3hrs if you're a fast reader. I could have finished it in one night if not for the health's consideration.
