Has anyone read this book and had a hard time reading the spoken parts? Any suggestions for getting through it?

Slow down until you get the hang of it. I remember it got much easier to read after getting through the first part of the story. Just go slow and enunciate. If you can say the words while imagining a southern black from that time doing, you should be able to catch the flow.

I have read that book. It was difficult at first until I decided to stop trying so hard. Once I learned to just take it in as continuous sounds and not read them as words, it all began to flow more easily. By the end of the book I was enjoying it.

Did you find reading it out loud helped at all? I can't hardly even seem to manage doing that without stumbling through it.
