Best Friends: How far would you go?

My mother's best friend is likely to arrive from abroad after four years. They both have almost grown together and were inseperable till my mom got married. Then her friend moved on and settled in the States but she never got married due to busy career. It has always been heartening to see the rapport and confidence they have in each other, as, I am yet to find such a close friend. She is presently not keeping very well but has to attend her relative's wedding in another city. Since she is not so well, she won't be able to come to meet mother here. So mom is going to the other city to meet her and that too for just about five-six hours that they'll get together because mom has to come back for an urgent requirement back home. Complicated it sounds. Doesn't it? It takes five hours one way to the other city. I am happy for both of them meeting each other but couldn't help wondering what other's would have done in similar circumstances. Do you too have a very dear best friend? Would you have done the same? Any better suggestion you have for them? Do you think its worth?

Hey daffodil! I think that it is truly wonderful that your mom and her friend will at least be able to spend some time together! It is great when you have a friend that you have had for many years and that you still keep in contact with and that you still remain close to. I have two friends like that who both live in Florida. I keep in touch with them by phone even though I haven't seen one of them in many years and the other in not as many years. But, we still have the same closeness that we had all those years ago. And when I do get to go to Florida I will try to get to see the both if I can. They don't live near where I will be going, but we will try to see each other anyway!
