Do you enjoy eating out? a lot of people do. I work as a waiter and would like to ask a favor of patrons. 1) Do not forget to tip, 20% is good and really helps waiters and waitress's to feed their families, but please at least 17%. I know this seems high, but most servers make $2.00 to $3.00 dolllars per hour from their employer. 2) Don't linger for a long time after you are through eating. Servers get paid by the table, the longer you sit there and tie up their table after you are through eating, you are keeping them from new guest which usually means more tips. There are other places to talk and socialize in or hold businessmeetings in. However if you do plan on holding a table for a while, try to compensate the server for the money that you may have cost them. That is all I will say for now, stay tuned for part two. Please feel free to share this.

That is a lot to ask for. 10% is normal, never heard of 20%. And you don't have to pay a tip if you don't want to. The tip the taxes are also on the bill. Sure if I had a lot of extra money, I would give more. Now a days I cannot even go out to dinner anymore. Who helps me look after my bills and family??? So, if I have the chance, I am not going to give out more than I have too. And if I want to stay a little longer, and drink my coffee, that should not be a problem. When I feel like I am being watched and looked at that I am suppose to leave, I will not come back. When you have no one left in your restaurant , that will be because of that. People have to feel welcome. With the economy as is, how do you expect to get so much done by other people. You are one of the lucky ones, you don't have to pay taxes from your tips. And still you are complaining???
