I like IX the best, even though it was on the easy side. I found the characters quite likable, and it was a refreshing to see a sociable main character who wasn't angsty and brooding. When I have time, I'll be starting on the DS remake for FF IV. So folks, which Final Fantasy did you like best and why?

Its actually a 3-way tie with me, I liked the story of Final Fantasy VII and the characters, Nanaki(Red XIII) was my favorite after Vincent. The gameplay, card game and "Junction" system that was used in Final Fantasy VIII was why I liked it. And I really liked the characters and the card game, even though it wasn't as fun or easy to play as the one in Final Fantasy VIII, not to mention the Trance system had its' moments, even if it wasn't as interesting as the Limit Break system used in the 2 previous games, though they were different in each game, I liked Final Fanasty IX as much as the others. They're all my favorites, even if Final Fantasy IX was the 2nd Final Fantasy game I played...

My husband plays alot of the Final Fantasy games. His favorite is VII. He says it has the best story line and line up of characters. I have watched him play a lot of them. I personally have only tried to play a few. So far my favortie is x-2. I like the controls and the characters.

Final Fantasy VII is easily the best one ever.

That seems to be a popular one. I've never been able to get into it, though. To be fair, I first tried it out long after it had been released, so the graphics, while innovative for the time, were quite dated when I first played it.

Final Fantasy 6 because it was "epic" for the SNES, had great characters, a very unique villain who was the only one in the entire series to succeed at least for awhile, and a story full of touching scenes. I hope there's a remake for it and at least one game for a "compilation" Final Fantasy 7 is in a close second because the beginning was very tight, urgent and exciting. Beyond that? It's simply the kind of game that sticks with people. In my honest opinion, it has to do with the "modern fantasy" element that didn't exist before in any Final Fantasy game. Then, there's Sephiroth. ;) Why else does it have more compilations that any other Final Fantasy 7? It's considered a "cash cow" because even after a decade, it still has a huge, loud fanbase.
