Lower salary or Unemployed?

Currently we are on an economical crisis and we cannot deny that. There are lots of companies closing down. Here in our country, even INTEL closed down and many got unemployed. Some of the businesses here are making their moves on how they can cope with the crisis that is going on. Most of them fired lots of employees to lessen the cost. And now many people are whining being unemployed all of a sudden. Now the business industries are planning to have a different move, and that is to lessen their employee's salaries TEMPORARILY until there is an economic recovery. But the government implies that the wages of workers who are earning the minimum wage should not be deducted because it would be against the law. If you are one of those minimum wage workers, will you fight for your wage not to be deducted but will have the threat of getting fired if the company needs to lower their cost? Or will you just accept the temporary lower salary and keeping your job position safe? And please indicate why...

Of course having a lower salary is far better than being unemployed - at least you still get something although it might be unfair. That something could still be the make or break factor of your survival :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I think at this point, it's better to get a pay cut than to be unemployed. I do agree however that it shouldn't fall below the minimum wage. It'd be bad for the minimum wage earners since they are the first persons at risk of being laid off. Between the two evils,I choose the lesser evil and that is pay cut.

The one that is going around in my mind is that the minimum wage earners' wages is hardly enough to cover the basic needs of their families. What more if the will be cut off? But yeah, it is much better rather than have nothing at all.

Lower salary would be better. This can't be a good scenario that out of 100 people 50 people would get 10k as salary and rest live unemployed. Better sceinario would be that all 100 people would get 4k as salary and rest can be awarded as incentive. That would serve the community better. I don't know if companies are going to apply the same rule!

I think i would accept a temporary lowering of salary than being employed and earn nothing at all in this moment of economic crisis and simultaneously find another higher paying job..I would never want to be unemplye after all each month of experience counts.

This would've been my answer as well. But the thing that comes into my mind is if I were a minimum wage worker and it will be less, it will no longer be enough to satisfy my family's basic needs.
