I don't believe I've ever had this problem but as long as it's not hurting you then its alright to keep eating it, most likely its just a subtle food allergy :-P

I agree you are showing the classic signs of an allergy. Some people have cross allergy with other fruits or associated types of plants. I would go to an allergist to test for sensitivity to that family of plants as the previous posters have revealed, tomatoes and such. We do not want you to end up with a full blown allergic reaction. Your doctor should advise you on this one.

I am guessing that you are having a mild, allergic reaction...but what surprises me is that usually you would react to all of the other members of the "nightshade"family....such as tomatoes & peppers! A mild reaction is something that you have to watch, tho! It can become a severe reaction & lead to anaphylactic shock! I would suggest to talk to your Dr., and I think he will suggest that you keep some anti-histamines on hand! If you ever feel that this itch is hand in hand with your throat swelling...DO NOT hesitate to get yourself to Emergency! Have a great weekend!

I presume you make it yourself? Have you tried leaving the sliced egg-plant to drainout it's sour liquids for an hour or so before preparing it?
