I haven't used linux but i've heard a lot about it. When i said to my friend that i regularly format my computer, sometimes due to virus problems. Then he said to install ubuntu because that exposes less to virus risks. But i have no idea on how to use ubuntu so still didn't try it. Might try it in the near future.

Yah, that's the biggest problem with Windows; it's so darn vulnerable. But with a good security suite you should be okay. Even if accidentally stumble upon some malware and viruses. If you are a gamer though, I would recommend to stick with Windows and get a good security suite. There are a few free ones that work just fine. Avast is alright. I used Kaspersky when I had Windows and it was the best one I tried so far. But it cost money (but then again it might be worth it ;)) Good luck!

Linux is very much common in many industries besides IT. There are a few reasons why people go for Unix/Linux. First off, it is freeware, though it is not very much user friendly as Windows but it is considered to be more secure than Windows. Linux is also considered to be more stable than Windows. It means it will crash much less and if it does, it is easier in Linux to fix the problem.

Linux is the favourite in the corporate world due to its NETWORKING and SECURITY features that are way more ahead as compared to any other operating system. As far as window is concerned, it is better for the end user i.e. to the people who use personal computers. Its because of its rich Graphical User Interface, ease of operability and robustness.

I'm Linux user too. I been using it for years and currently I stick with Arch Linux as its optimized for i686. Linux/UNIX is build for networking so they perform better than Windows when you use it as a server. But Windows is a good gaming OS. Anyway console is still the best for gaming.

hello dear santhosheie, my choice is Linux, so far as OS is concerned. It is freely downloadable and being developed by the community any bug is fixed in a short time. Virus attacks are less. Very stable and suitable for server applications. Number of applications including games are high and increasing day by day. Those who have the capability can even manipulate the carnel of the OS as the source code is available. However, there is no doubt that Microsoft Windows is the most popular one and is the choice of people in general. The OS and applications are costly that is why pirated softwares have become so popular worldwide. Happy mylotting

Well.. also one main reason that more and more companies are switching to Linux is because of economic reasons. Linux is absolutely free and will save companies and organisations $$$. I prefer Linux for many purposes. Better memory processing for better performance. Control (when was the last time Windows did exactly what you wanted? Haha.) Visually appealing and customizable. Easy to update and maintain. Sure most distros are cutting edge and somewhat vulnerable and buggy but in the Linux world those are things that get fixed so fast that you don't have to worry about anything :) For server systems I prefer BSD though. I feel that its alot safer, faster and a whole lot more stable.
