What is the best visitor counter?

I want to put a visitor counter on my blogs and was wondering what your opinion is on to which one is the best and why. I have seen many but did not know which one to choose. When setting them up, I also saw a question I need info on. Is is a good idea to password protect your stats so they do not appear on google?

As a webmaster with dozens of sites, blogs, and wikis, I would highly recommend using Sitemeter (free from www.sitemeter.com). This not only counts, but gives you a good idea where you traffic is coming from, as well as emailing you weekly summary reports. It's easy to install on your blog and is as good as any visitor counter out there.
