almost got scammed!!

i recently was contacted by a resort/ club saying that i won a 3 day stay at a 5 star hotel and a kitchen ware set. just had to attend a conference to qualify. it sounded too good to be true, but i had some time to kill so i thought of checking it out. they did give me a box, which turned out to be a pudding set- 6 cheap glass bowls worth not more than Rs.100, and during the "conference" i was promised an excellent stay if i paid Rs. 3000 as a "registration fee". furthermore, i was offered a club membership + a site + access to worldwide/ countrywide resorts for just Rs.2,30,000/ 1,60,000 respectively. I wanted to verify how far this could be true, the people were very convincing and had answers to every objection i could think of, but would not give me time to commit. i finally ended up paying a "registration fee" and really wheedled for some time to commit further. came online and found it was a scam and many people were unlucky enough to make a down payment/ post dated cheques and lose them or have a long battle to recover part of it back (if at all) anyone know which company i am talking about/ been in this situation? please be warned, if anything sounds too good to be true, it probably is, as a fellow my lotter told me just a few weeks ago! THat was what made me cautious and saved me from a huge loss, though i still intend to snatch back my registration fee, why lose that!
