Need Help to connect two computers wirelessly

For all of the computer wizards here at myLot, I am wondering (if it is even possible) how I can connect two Laptops (running Windows XP w/ Service packs 2 or greater) through its wireless antenna, without using the internet.
My brother and I would like to share some files, and he's eager to get them connected. Thanks for your help!
