Snowball fight

We have had a good fall of snow here in England, and its the first I have had since moving to England from Australia. Today was my first good snowball fight at age 30. I'm wondering what it is about snow that makes everyone young and old want to play in it.
I work in an office yet everyone, young and old, was taking breaks to go out in it. Whether it was to stomp around in it or throw some around.

What I have experienced is that it is less cold if there is no wind during and after the the snowfall.Its probabely one of the natures' bountys' happening right before our eyes that makes it so special and a occasion for young and old to enjoy it.And savour it.
