A long way from home

How many mylotters here are living far away from home? And why do you live far away from home? I live far away from home. I chose to live far away because of work. This is the way it is. I'm not sure until when but so far, I haven't decided on givning my work up. I am enjoying the independence too.

I live about 1100 miles from where I grew up. I moved at 19 to the the state I live in now for the reason of seeing the world and starting my life. I'd met my husband while on vacation some other place and this was his home state and we just resided here. There is alot more to offer where we live, than where I grew up. I grew up isolated in a small farming area and didn't know what life could be like until I graduated highschool and ventured off to college and knew that I didn't wanna go back to my home state to live in that area, where there was nothing but cows, and corn feilds, lol...

But don't you miss it even once in a while? I enjoy the independence and the different places I am able to see and visit, but still there are times that I miss home.

It is really hard to explain those things to kids who are used to seeing McDonalds at every corner. Maybe just a visit once in a while.

I do. I don't miss the area I grew up in, but I do miss my family alot and it be very hard on big holidays and celebrations that we have but this is the choice i made to move, and my family is rooted here. It's hard to take my children back to where I grew up because they just can't seem to understand why they can't go to McDonalds, or go to the aracade... We have to drive over and hour and in some cases another state to get to those things due to the small area I grew up in.

Hello bubblyapple! I am living away from my parents too. I have to be away from them because I studied in college there. Right now, I am away from them because I am waiting for my husband's petition to me and the address that I used is here.

Well, I am living the same place since I married my husband almost 10 yrs. ago, and it is not that far from where I was living prior to that. I prefer not moving around anymore if I can help it as well as moving can be quite expensive. Right now I am far away from my family as they have moved farther away but we are still pretty close to my husbands family which is nice.
