Oh I'm so glad you specified that you were not talking about potato chips. At first I thought how great it would be to eat some chips and be able to 'digest' an entire dictionary Think how great that would be if it was in different languages too! Sorry, must be my age all these new fangled things, I can't keep pace with them

You think so? We could just eat chips all day instead of going to school?

Well..Going to school..even now one can forego...if thats the case. There are a lot of books, online resources avaliable. But you know..School helps you assimilate the information and how one can use it for the society.Helps one meet and live with fellow beings. I dont think a dictionary on a potato chip and eating it is really going to affect the school going.

It would be a nice idea to have a huge dictionary on a single chip...Lots of hard work needed..But it will be a profitable and very useful idea.. Potato chip! Have a nice day!

Thanks for the clarification arthi. The idea of chip on a potato chip may seem amusing, but who knows it may be a reality in the future.Hence I suggest Mysdian..to register for patent at the earliest. She can enjoy the royalities later

wow,,, friend thats a good idea. But i am not aware whether its already there .Also it would be good idea if it can be updated online inreal time ,so that new things can be learnt .It surely will go a long way if right marketing strategies are applied. It would not only help save the space , but also save precious papers. cheers! Vishwas

Thanks. Most of the time, the dictionary is based on a software. One can load the software and use.i have not seen as yet an application that can be based on hardware. It has its own advantages..isnt it?

My brother is a mathematician and he told me recently about nano-chip revolution. If it becomes a reality, we'll be able to have all volumes of Encyclopedia Britannica at our fingertips, literally :o))

Thats right.Nanotechology has a huge potential to make wonderful things happen. But as of now,its still sometime away..may be we can have a encyclopedia on our finger tips in another 10 years time.

It would be great if it happens within 10 years. But to my knowledge the nanotechnology at present is at a very nascent stage and still lots has to be done. Its like, you know, like vacuum tubes in electronics...still work has to be done to go to the extent of VLSI.

I don't think it will take ten long years as the research in nano technology is moving with great speed..Lets hope for the best..

did i hear dictionary on a chip? well what about dictionary on our mobile phones? they are full fledged dictionaries and occupy just a part(less than 1 million) of the mobile chip. Technology has advanced so much.
