I used to have that problem with my IE7. My friends asked me tocreate and shift to a new user every now and then as the cached pages and memory slows it down. I found a better solution now - you can download and run Advanced System Care Free software, which is very similar to CCleaner but much better at cleaning the registry and fixing internal link and other problems. It runs along side your Anitivirus, and unlike other systems you dont have to uninstall or close your AV or firewall. My system is working as good as new. Hope this helped. Happy mylotting.

i feel that it is time to format you operating system drive and install a fresh copy of operating system. Try to install a latest anti-virus and scan for your virus.

according to 4 different antvirus scans, i have no viruses, which i expected, im running vista home premium, (i think its the good one). all i can think is that its some settings that havebeen altered, as the actual internet connection is fine. thanks for the help guys

Have you tried to reinstall the web browser you are using? Have you scanned your computer for some spyware/malware or trojans?

I too had this problem earlier with FireFox. One of the mylot members suggested me the following. I did it and it worked for me. Try disabling the SafeSearch if you are using AVG. To disable SafeSearch, go to 'Tools -- Add-ons'. You'll find a button to disable the AVG safesearch.

same problem here. at first I thought it was my internet connection but then I noticed one time when i was downloading that it stucked again but the download went on. I guess it's all caused by cookies with malware and viruses and stuff. I tried a virus scanner for browsers but i cancelled it as it wanted to remove some important.
