Here is my website where you can ask any and all questions about pets for free, and get complete instructions: http://cli.gs/RdXHrR There is no cost, just register. Never any cost. It's brand new. I've retired from pet care and training services which I worked in for almost 30 years, and now I want to give back and help pets live better lives and stay in their homes, not in shelters. To answer your question, somewhat, training is essential -- you can get that at my site. Also, you should learn how to care for the Lhasa's coat, as it grows very long and will need daily grooming, frequent bathing -- unless you can afford to take her to a groomer regularly. Socialization is extremely important. Lhasas can often become territorial and over protective, so it's very important that she become used to all kinds of people, other animals, traffic noises, etc. I wrote an article about proper socialization: http://cli.gs/dsuqpH And here are a couple of other articles that will be good if your dog is a puppy, especially. None of these are referral links or anything like that. Just free info. http://cli.gs/4HGn2z Respond properly to your puppy's body language. http://cli.gs/24RuSP Choose the best toys for your puppy or dog.

Congrats on the lhasa apso! I have two shih-tzus and they are very similar. First off, make sure to either keep her groomed short or brush her hair at least once a day. If you take her to the groomers, I recommend the "Teddy Bear Cut" It leaves the head and tail fluffy but shaves their back and legs. They look like little lions and they are so adorable. Mine are both lapdogs - they love to be held and loved on. They are also very smart dogs so get to training her right away - the younger the better!
