My parents bought me a laptop few years ago and I must take care of it. I try to give a protection inside my laptop such as an anti virus, firewall, password and so on. I defrag my laptop at least once a month and make a back up for my datas. However, it happens sometime when my laptop hang and do not work for me. I also take care of the screen and clean the dust. Moreover, because the laptop is very sensitive I use laptop bag to protect it. But, sometime when we protect our laptop, bad people try to steal it. Do you think all of these protection is enough? From now on I want to make my laptop more secure, but it seems so hard to keep it like that. We must take care inside and outside laptop. What do you think about it?

yeah it's pretty hard to take care a laptop. i've just bought a new one, but just in a week, the hardisk didn't work well and the OS was broken. hmmh.. that was disappointed. although i always protect it, but viruses, spywares still attack.

There is not much you can do if a dedicated thief want to steal from you. However I am reading your post and you complain about it hanging. I usually find that if you have done the usual cleaning like Ccleaner program (free), defrag and antivirus scans as well as getting rid of programs that start when you boot, is to upgrade your RAM. Most laptops until recently seemed to have a mamimum of 2 GB of RAM. Unfortunately things wear out so it will not last forever. They do not seem to last more than a few years, probably because they are moved around so much. As far as physical protection you can invest in a cable lock. I think I read that 14% or 1 in 14 laptops are stolen, cannot remember the exact figure but 14 sticks in my memory. There is a program or programs that I am not too familiar with that will "lojack" your computer by sending you an email of the ip address where a computer is connecting from everytime the computer connects to the internet.

there is one thing that happens a lot: when you take care of sth, it is often hurt; when you take nothing of it, it is often steadly. i use a laptop too, and i do what you have done. i think my laptop is worth enough to protect so much. look at it just like a parterner or a friend~ you will have no trouble of thinking to protect it.

Yup it is pretty hard to protect a laptop. I have experience for six years using laptop. Maybe (almost) all problems with laptop I have experienced. From hard disk crash, plenty of viruses, trojan, spyware, until the burning of the motherboard :((, I have faced all those problem. Luckily, those problems appeared when I still had warranty. Surprisingly, once the warranty is over, the problems just disappear. I am happy for it.
