Our lives are full of tensions and monotony..But for me, alternate rock is the kind of music that cheers me up and helps me rise above it all...It helps me work under tough conditions and keep me going...What kind of music keeps you in the rhythm???

hi batra..... for me too alternative rock and a bit of metal does the trick.... i get lost in the music.....alternative rock music just circumscribes my mind and i forget about my daily problems....you know some of them like my udhaar.....and so i try my best to listen to hard rock, or metal or such kind of music when i am in tension....

Nothing is more soothing than a Hugh Masekela CD. The song that keeps me afloat is "Magic" from the album "Time" it's a beautiful love song, very good for weddings. The best pick up line is from this song: "There's magic in the air when you are walking into anywhere" Richard Bona and Salif Keita also do it for me.. I love jazz (Hugh Masekela, Dave Coz, Richard Bona, Jonathan Butler, George Benson...) and Afro rythms particularly the jazzy ones (Miriam Makeba, Salif Keita, Youssou N'Dour, Oliver Mtukudzi, Eric Wainaina, Atemi Oyungu, Soweto String Quartet). I also feel R N B: Luther, Mary J Blige, Mint Condition, Chaka Khan, Whitney... All I need to get back into the groove of things is to listen to " Magic" and "Send Me" by HUgh Masekela, "Nyanyama" by Salif Keita, "Birima" by Youssou N'Dour, and " Hapo Zamani" by Miriam Makeba.

I generally listen to all kinds of music but whenever I am angry and really finding it hard to control my rage, I prefer listening to hard rock and really turn the volume up. I think that's my way venting up my anger or channeling it to another area so that I won't blurt out hurtful words to whoever it is who earned my wrath... Although that is not a healthy thing to do especially as it is sure to damaged my hearing, I think I prefer this coping mechanism of mine because in this way, less people are hurt and also good for me because I wouldn't have something to be regretful for whatever harsh words I may have blurted out... =)

Blues & Jazz are what do it for me. Occasionally I listen to Classic Rock, but most of the time it's Blues!!!

I listen to a lot of musical theater cast recordings and film soundtracks, especially Disney. I live in NYC and walk a lot, which calms me down if I'm tense. I've found that any musical with music by Stephen Sondheim has really good music to walk to, if that makes any sense. :)
