Finding a new job

So after moving here to the woods of Missouri back in July 2008, it took me three months to find a job. Got something in a field that I had worked in for several years (post-secondary educational administration) and was very excited to be hired for the job. Unfortunately, after just a few months, I realized that I wasn't happy. It had nothing to do with the job...nothing to do with the people or my responsibilities. I soon realized that I was just tired. Not of working....just in general. I'm a mother of 4 children (and a soon-to-be step-son who lives with us full time...who I adore, of course! :-) Prior to my fiance and I getting together, I had been a single mother for several years. All I ever did was work, work, work. Of course, I'm not complaining...that's part of the job of parenthood...and of being an adult. I worked and hardly had any time for my children. Now, being in the position I'm in, my fiance and I can afford for me to work part time and be around more for all of the kids. This is important, too, because my fiance is a drill sergeant in the Army. During the first few weeks of boot camp at the beginning of each new cycle, he's away from about 3:30 am to 9 pm. That's just the nature of the job. So I gave my notice at my job and have been home for a couple of weeks now. I'm enjoying being able to be home with the kids and be able to pick up the two youngest from pre-school without having to rush around. At the job I had, I'd leave home at 7am and wouldn't get home until 6pm...by the time I'd get home, I'd have no energy even to cook (thank goodness for the crock pot...I'd just prepare dinner in the morning, throw it in the crock pot and it'd be ready when I got home). Well, my fiance and I also talked about me working part time closer to home. That way I'd still be able to be there for our kids, but I'd also still be bringing in a paycheck to contribute to the bills and the kids. So today, an attorney who I had sent a resume to (I sent out a BUNCH of resume's after I had decided to quit the other job) called me and I'm going in to see the attorney this afternoon! I'm very excited about this job because my major in school is legal studies! :-D Although the hours would be similar to the other job, it's only about 4 miles from home! And only about 2 miles from the kids pre-school! I'd have to be at work at 8:30 and leave at 4:30. I just can't wait to go meet the attorney this afternoon! :-)

I understand exactly what you mean about not being happy. I recently moved back from Houston to Birmingham, AL. I prayed and got a job very quickly with a great company. I've been there for like three months now,and I hate going to work. I have no choice but to stick it out though because I have two daughters and my husband is currently unemployed as well. I'm sending out resumes and have even been researching work at home jobs. I'm not sure what is going on but I really would love to have a job that I enjoy. I have a degree in Computer Science but can't seem to find a job in my field so I'm just having to settle for whatever I can get which isn't making my life any happier right now.

I feel for you! It is so hard these days to find a job that you're either qualified for or that you enjoy (or both). I do hope that you find what you're looking for and that it's something you're happy with. Hang in there!
