How often do you say I love you to your spouse? Do you expect he/she say it back to you? When you say it, do you mean it or just say it for the sake of having to say it or saying it back?

I utter the words everyday to my spouse...via text or every time I have the chance to. Its way of saying how secure I am with his love and thanking him for the days that we share ever since we got married. I tried to say it especially in front of our kids for them to know that mommy & daddy loves each other very much and they also do the same with us.

When my partner and I first started dating we used to say it to each other at every opportunity we had, to try and impress upon each other that the statement was true. Now two and a half years down the track, we both know that we share the feeling and there is no reason for us to have to constantly remind each other (verbally that is) and we only say it to each other when, as Apoots mentioned, when the moment strikes. I think that is the easiest way to describe it and I think Apoots was right on the money with that one :)

My fiance and I say it when it strikes us. We don't just say it every single time we say good bye (whether we're leaving for work or are on the phone) just to say it. We say it because we mean it...but we also show it.
