anybody has the idea of how facebook can rise up to become the most popular social networking sites overtaking its predecessors like MySpace, Friendster, etc? do you think is because of less spamming, more secured, more features, more games, what do you think?

but why do you think that people is going for or demanding for facebook rather than others, as you said the demand is the most important things?

Hello victorywp! I have friendster and facebook account but I didn't like facebook. I mean, I knew friendster first and that friendster is more popular here in our country. I think what makes facebook unique is that you will be able to know when your friends are online or not and they have their chat button unlike to friendster.

i also have both accounts in friendster & facebook. yes the chat button is a special feature only in facebook. but some of my friends still don't know about it so they don't reply my message through the facebook chat.

I have heard people say they like it because there isn't as much music and graphics that are loading which makes it a little less annoying. I know I hate that sort of thing.

yeah that's another advantage of facebook. besides making the page looks a little less annoying, it also helps the page to load faster.

I have signed in facebook but have not explored the site too much. But after seeing your comments, I am planning to open it today and look for friends. Thanx

friendster is more popular in asia. they also have games in it but not at all competitive compared to facebook's games. that is why your sister is addicted to the games of facebook. i think you should try it. but beware as you might get addicted lol.

yes, the main difference maybe is that you can find your friends in facebook easier than other social networking sites because facebook wants you to register your full & real name. facebook doesn't allow you to play with nicknames. so your friends can easily spot & notice you. just great!

I absolutely love facebook, infact I'm on it now. :) It's just a great socializing site that betas the rest. It does like you said, have great games and other things you can do on applications, and facebook, also like you said, has more features than any other website similar like facebook.
