The two you mention and avast! by Alwil (ignore the sponsored results at the top of the page). As you can see, AVG is by far the most popular out there. But if you look at the ratings, cnet editor's gave all three a rating of 5 stars. However, if you look at the user ratings, avast! scored highest (4.5 stars) out of the three yet is the least popular. This is all due to different people looking for different things in their anti-virus program. I mean "the best" for one person is not always the case for another. You can read what the editors say about each as well as the readers' comments. I suggest that you try them yourself though, see what the differences are and choose the one you like best. Be sure that you set a System Restore point before installing any of them. Once you install and finish testing the first one (give it a try for at least 3 days), roll back to the System Restore point you created when you want to install the and test the next one.
