As A Keen Student of Life, Beliefs, Cultures & Ancient History I Need Your Help!

As the heading says, I'm a keen student these four subjects, and I thought some of you, who are from different backgrounds, beliefs and cultures might be able to help me in my studies. Firstly, I'll tell you a little about myself. I'm English, and although I was Christened into the Church of England at a very early age, I now follow a Seax-Wicca path. I found that my Christian teachings didn't satisfy my curiosity enough, and several years later, after various "signs" and discoveries, I decided to change my path. I trained in Wicca to Priestess level, and continue to grow and learn. I always had an interest in my roots and ancestry though, and had a great interest in the Anglo-Saxons and their lifestyles and beliefs. So, on finding that my roots are in these people, I veered onto the Seax-Wicca path, which is basically Wicca with Norse beliefs added. I am a keen studier of our ancient history, especially the Dark Ages, Arthurian Legend, and the invasions by the Vikings and Anglo Saxons. I also have a deep interest in all the Megalithic and Neolithic structures scattered about Great Britain, including the famous Stonehenge and Avebury Circle, and the barrows, from times long gone. I celebrate Sabbats, which are numbered eight per year, and which mainly coincide with the Christian celebrations which derived from them. In other words, my calender is the Wheel of the Year and my seasons are Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. I don't judge people by their race, cultures or beliefs as I feel that everybody's entitled to their own, personal path, which is comfortable to them and that they should be allowed to follow it without the leading or interference of others, unless they request it. Now, what I would like you to offer me is something similar, whichever part of the World you come from, regarding your culture, beliefs, country's history and your life path, or any one of those, if you feel you can share. I'm particularly interested, of course in the North European beliefs and cultures as these spilled over into Britain, but I'm also interested in the ways and beliefs of the inhabitants of other countries. For instance, your beliefs may differ and your culture, and certainly, I know that some countries only have two seasons in a year... the rainy season and the hot season. Even other British subjects will have something to offer. I've been to Wales but don't know an awful lot about the people, and I've never been to Scotland or Ireland, so I only know what I read. This is your chance to stand up and be heard on what you believe or know about your country... so go ahead, boast away and enjoy this discussion. I'm all ears! :)

I don't know... they seem to come in waves, my friend. Some haven't been in too much and I know Ian is having a hard time of it, not being able to post. He comes in and reads but he has a problem posting just now. It's a loss to the site I feel. Never mind... I've told him to e-mail me with any responses he wishes to post and I'll put them in for him until such times as he gets sorted. As for the others, there are those who come in quite regularly; those who only come in on a notifier; and those who don't even have their notifier on, but come in when they have five minutes to spare! lol. I sit in there most of the day and evening and keep an eye for new postings, but I'm working elsewhere at the same time because it can be slow and tiring just waiting. I guess you'll get some responses eventually, and I know one particular person who will very likely post on Vikings, whilst Steve and I are working on Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge, so you won't be alone for too long, my friend. xxx
