I am not a big medicine taker, I prefer to try other methods first. Eating properly to keep my body healthy, exercise, but when I do get a cold I don't take any medicines until i have tried everything else first. I usually try rest, drinking more, hot cloth, heating bag, at night i heat up lemon lime juice. If it is pretty bad I will have half a package of Neo-citran at night before bed. I do not take headache medicines higher then 6-12 yr old tyenlol, one becuase i have trouble swallowing pills and the other that dose works for me. It is very rare that drinking more or a nap won't cure a headache for me. Other members of my family do take medicines and I find they do not get better any quicker then I do. My parents are both taking upwards of 8-10 pills a day, I do not want to live like this controlling my body with medicine. Is there anything that you swear by? I would love to hear other people's cold rememdies. Also ones for small children, as I would love to reduce the use of medicines for my youngest. She currently does all that I do addding in vicks at night except for the neo citran she get a medicine either tyenlol or cough and cold or decongestive if neccessary whichever is suited to her situation. Do you take herbal products like st john's wort, echinacea, ginseng, vitamin c or zinc? or anything else

I drink tea. I take my vitamins, and get some extra sleep. Other than that, I just ride it out. Halls cough drops help with the sinuses.

Well i don't take any herbal medicines you have mentioned about. But naturally when you have colds, it is necessary to take Vitamin C. Aside from that you can take Fruits rich in Vitamin C also like Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon or Kalamansi Juice. And also i like to consider drinking Gatorade. Taking hot soup will also help cure colds like Chicken soup or tomato soup. The help of nasal decongestants like vicks would probably help too. But for me i am using Sanitary Green Blam to massage my back, my forehead and nape area. Plenty of sleep or rest is also needed for a person with colds.

I think a cold just has to run it's course. I try to rest and drnk plenty of fluids but I don't take anything unless I have a fever then I will take Tylenol to get the fever down. Otherwise I just wait it out for a few days and it eventually leaves! lOL
