So Busy to do simple things like watching the sunrise

We live in a very busy world, where we have to catch up on everything: new hairstyle, new outfit, new friends, meetings, jobs, new phone to buy, new laptop, new movie to watch, new club to check out,to do the groceries, to pay the bills, to pick the kids up from school, ETC....... How much time do we have to enjoy simple things in life, like watching the sunset, or counting the stars in the sky, or guessing what those clouds look like? Is it time we don't have? Or is it us who forgot how to enjoy simple, yet very pleasurable things in life? What would you prefer: going to a party or spending the night in a sleeping bag under open sky and then watch the sunrise? Would you rather go to an expensive restaurant or have a BBQ made with potatoes like in childhood and fool around like back then? I was just wondering if there are still some people out there who would want to enjoy simple things in life, and not cuz they are simple but cuz they are really enjoyable, have true meaning and take us back to when we were younger.

This is what i always want to do. Just enjoy the simplest things, go to the park to have a walk, breath some fresh air relax me from the busy day at work. Living in this kind of world we had right is so toxic for me. You always had to cath up in everything, from work, technology etc. etc. Having a simple walk in the park made me happy.

I abslutely understand you, that's why I started the topic. I'm glad to see that many readers responded to my post saying that they enjoy the simple things. I was thinking that there are not so many people who actually like these things, but I'm glad I was wrong. Thanx all for replying, and keep up the good job of liking simple things in life.

I prefer the simple things in life. I do take a break once a month and go out to the country to my grandmother's and just enjoy the peace of it all. I remember as a child going fishing and having dirt clod wars in the garden. Laying in the pasture seeing how many different images we could pick out of the clouds. I did not realize then how precious and valuable that lifestyle was. Now it is only a meer vacation away from reality. I do not think it would hurt the us if our economy caused us to have to go back to living off the land. There is no real value to life. I would go back and give it all up if I could get out of this rat race.

You took me back to my childhood, when we used to spend summers in the country side. We didn't have all the things that our children have now, all these complicated toys and games, and we wouldn't bring what we had to the country side, but we were busy every second we were there. We would be playing all day long and parents had to drag us inside for lunch. We were busy building castles out of little sand we had there, putting up tents, out of old sheets off course, we had to go swimming everyday in the river, we would lie down and watch the clouds, trying to figure out what that cloud looks like, we used to go to the little wood we had there and gather wild strawberries and apples, we would just run up and down the hill, gather flowers, used to help grandma in the garden with seeding and stuff, we would climb the trees, we were endlessly busy. By the end of the day we would gather and have "BBQ" with early potatoes we got straight from the garden. It's the sweetest memories of my whole life. And though we were too young to wake to watch the sunrise, though we had the plans, but we did enjoy the sunset. Now I'm grown up, live in a different part of the world, in UAE, have my own children, and unfortunately we don't have those ooportunities for our children, but I try to make it up for them by various activities, and we travel to Russia every summer and I try to let them spend some time in the countryside.

I prefer the simple things. The Highlight of my day is watching the sunrise or sunset and praying... playing with the cats and kittens petting my dog as I try to stop her from barking excessively at me... To many people forgot how to sit and enjoy the simple things.. I sometimes think the economy crash is G-ds way of trying to get us to slow down... and enjoy the simple things... - DNatureofDTrain

I absotolutely agree with you on your statement that too many people forgot how to sit down and enjoy simple things, and that we need to slow down. It's like the more things we have that make our life easier, the less time we have, whereas the aim was to give us more free time. Funny

Ah, busy. The busy word once more. I have stopped thinking of busy. I just put one foot in front of the other and forget about the race. Every step is an adventure and I leave thinking to the thinkers who think about the race and how busy it is. cheers!!!

You're right. With many things to do in life, the simple things that are supposed to be enjoyed are nearly forgotten. I would one day give myself time to spend a day nature tripping and enjoy the sights and life of outdoor activities.

You have given good idea. But there are few people who enjoy all these small things. Now a days every one are on their way to find their jobs, work, education and business and healht and many more. so no one care about like these simple things. These natural things can be enjoyed by the people who are living in rural areas.

Some people rush by in life looking at their watches and getting stressed about deadlines. Others are more relaxed and gain pleasure from seeing quite simple things provided by nature. One time I cycled home from work and going down a hill I notices a stunning rainbow in the sky. I am very keen on traveling and so have seen many amazing looking sunsets when the sky has turned from blue to orange and then to black. I have looked up in the sky to see thousands of sparkling stars in the dark night sky. I liked to get up really early to see the sunrise. I BBQ either. Instead I would love to have a picnic by the sea or in the countryside. It is not expensive to enjoy life the simple way.

I like a bit of both. Every onw and then I do like to go to a nice party where I can catch up with old friends or out to dinner where I don't have to cook, but I will also enjoy doing something simple like a barbeque on my back terrace with some company over. I try to make time for the simple pleasures because if you don't make it a point to find time for them, you won't get to do them.

Although I am a very busy person who is on the go by just working from home, I do like the early morning 7am quiet time . I love to stand by our laundry area with the sliding glass opened facing the air well, just stirring my mug of fiber drink and enjoying the morning quietness and sound of people opening and closing their grill door going to work. If I don't stand there in the morning, i would do this in the evening around 7pm at the same place near the air well listening to families having dinner, the opening and closing of grill doors of returning father's or workers to their home while I sip my green tea or while I keep the laundry. I live in an apartment so there are many sounds and noises but I like these two.....some people may find this freaky but it gives me a nice pleasant feeling.........

I really like to watch the sunrise. Once a week I wake up early to go to the market and I am able to see the sunrise but most of the time I wake up late. The sunrise is a stunning beauty that I really cherish. It is awesome and marvelous sight to behold.

Simple things are the greatest happiness I have found. Life is complicated so those little things make a huge difference in the way I look at things, deal with things, and function as a human. You have to find the time for those little moments... like we wait for the bus and watch the sun come up, we read a story in the quiet after the littler kids are in bed. It's all what you make of it.

I wish I could life in that way. I can put my passion in my life and enjoy every moment. I have some friends that have an enjoyable life, have true meaning and they seems to feel happy even their life is not perfect. Sometime we forgot what we seek in our life. Focus in what we want but not what we need. If I have spare time, I would like to gather with my family, just at home, make a homemade cake or dishes and enjoy it. I would like to go to jungle or beach in order to enjoy this life. Because sometime, if we busy with our day we forgot to enjoy it. Happy mylotting!

I love the simple things in life! I love to watch the sunset, and the clouds make odd shapes. It's probably one of the reasons I love photography so much, I can capture the simple beauty of God's creation, and on a dreary day, I can look at them again.
