I hear many health workers and mothers say breakfast should be fast and light to get your system up with little stress trying to figure out how to crack the food down, but considering the hours your stomach must have spent without food Am not particularly in support of such an idea so am imploring you all to help me deal with this because Am going to be babysitting two little kids soon and I need all the info... Thanks for reading!

How old are the kids you are babysitting? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it is important also that it has to be at breakfast that we have to take heavy to prepare for the next hours and activities for the day. As for kids, they should eat heavy and complete nutritious and healthy foods because they are active during day time. Heavy in the sense that there has to be food with carbohydrates, calcium, protein, iron and other essential nutrients. Junk foods are not advisable and sodas. Give them food that is rich in fibers too. Do not worry when they eat heavy meal in the breakfast because it will be burned out when they play. I think it is a wrong notion to eat light on breakfast.

20 months (girl) 34 months (boy)....About the choice of food for breakfast I now have a different opinion . Thank you so much you know because they will be waking up earlier when their system might not be ready...so some light would have suffixed and a lil fiber and protein a few hours later. But am relieved just reading your reply, especially when I consider the fact that they are kids and are likely to run around and burn alot of energy! Thanks again.

I have 80 months old, 31 months old nephews and 45 months old cousin and all of them are males, they are very active and when they started to play around, it is hard to feed them. My physician auntie would always advise us to let them eat when they are hungry because it will be burned out easily when they resume on playing again. They are very hyper. With the ages you mentioned, those are the ages where they love to play and hyper really especially the male. What you should be careful is when you give them meat, be sure to slice them in small bits for them to easily chew in order to prevent them from indigestion which most of us worry. Of course, explain to them why it has to be chewed thoroughly. While they are young, introduce foods that are healthy and do not introduce goods from fast food chains or junk foods in particular. When they grow up, it will become a habit to them what has been introduced at their early age.

Hello,Nuemann! After a good night sleep a simple and nutritious breakfast is essential for every person. The ideal breakfast is the meal that gears up for the day.It is essential to costomise your breakfast to your need.Keep it light like steamed sprouts or salad.Brown bread and salad and fruits may also be your ideal daily diet in the morning.

Heavy for adults that may seem right for kids? I mean if you ate very well before going to bed and your body worked on the meal would you give it a chance to clean and refurbish it's self by giving it less work i.e eating light in the morning? well maybe it has worked for you but am not sure you have tried in on kids....Thanks anyway I appreciate I learn't something or two from you.

you know what, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you should eat like a king during breakfast. you are starting the day and you should have enough energy to face the day. enjoy your breakfast and you're up the whole day. maybe you can watch your lunch and dinner but you should not neglect breakfast.

Yeah thanks but I was refering to my little kids and not me and I can't afford to feed them like kids lest theybecome overfed and inactive am sure. I just want some kind remedy that gets them started light in the morning with a fibre and other stuffed nutrients to come later. Am not a food person per se so am a little bit worried if it ain't gonna rub off on them...I love them though and don't wanna see not run around hopping and gliding!
