I recently saw a study online that said most people need at least 8 hours but there are some, usually elderly that only need 7 hours. Teens go through a period where they seem to need more sleep and some sleep up to 12 hours. There are so many changes taking place in a teens body that is affects their sleep. Get at least 8 but if you are still tired try adding time. The stress that many teens are under affects their sleep also as it can make them sleep to much or it can keep them awake at night. If you have trouble with sleeping try turning off the t.v., music, computer, cellphone at least 30 minutes before bedtime so you can start to relax for sleep. Try reading a relaxing book before bed as that usually makes you sleepy. Remember how nature prepares for nighttime. The sun goes down g-r-a-d-u-a-l-l-y not all at once, so we also need to prepare ourselves gradually for sleep. Some people begin by turning out bright lights a little before bedtime to prepare their bodies for bed. Keeping a nightlight in your bathroom also keeps you from turning on a bright light and waking yourself up. Try drinking a small glass of plain milk before bed as milk has chemicals that help to bring on sleep. If you don't drink milk you could try some cheese. Don't drink or eat anything with caffeine several hours before bedtime as many times that will keep you awake. (Coffee, Tea, Soda's, Chocolate)

It is depend on the age and the personal health status. Generally, baby need to sleep more, 12~16 per day in average. For the small kid, they need about 12 hour sleeping. For those in between 7~18, 8~10 hours consider normal needed. But in age 18~30, they need about 6~8hours only. 40~60 even less, 5~6 hours shall be enough, those with age 60 and about normally sleep less than 5 hours. According to research, 5~10 hour sleeping hours consider normal. Always remember that qualit of sleeping is much concerned that quantity of sleep

I need more than I am getting currently. But then again, I just had a baby. 6 hours would be heaven. I could use a bit more than that myself. I'd go for 8 hours if I could. That would start things off on the right foot for me.
