Why are you a Vegitarian?

I became a vegitarian about a year ago because my wife really wanted us to. I told her I had no problem being a vegitarian if I was still able to find and eat foods that I liked and tasted good. So far it has been a sucess. I have not found many things that I dislike. I have found many new and amazing products that I had no idea existed. I feel better, I have more energy, I am more regular, I feel more in tune with my body. My wife and I believe that in this day and age with everything we have that eating meat is just not necesary. Plus have you seen how animals are treated at the places they are rasied? I am not a liberal tree hugger type, I am a conservative Republican, but I still do not want to see animals treated like that. Also we feel that everything should be taken in moderation, that even if you do eat meat that it should not be with every meal. This is not our idea, this comes straight from the best selling book of all time. The Bible! Also in the Bible it says that when Jesus returns that the Lion will lay down with the Lamb, and that there will be peace on earth. Do you really think that at this time that animals will eat each other, or live in harmony and peace with their Lord Jesus Christ? Think about it! I look at it this way, I am just going above and beyond and going down that path now, instead of waiting until Jesus comes back. We all have to answer for what we have done while on this earth. I cannot in good consious, knowing what I know about how the animals are treated, eat them. I will go before my Father and tell him with a pure heart that I did not harm another animal for my food source. There are so many things for us to eat on this earth now, do we really need to harm and eat anmimals? Also on a side note, did you know that the biggest source of "Green house Gasses" come from the excrement of cows raised on big ranches for us to eat? Enough of that now. What do you guys think/feel about this? Please be adult about your comments!

I prefer not to eat meat simply because i hate the thought of animals being slaughtered, I think animals have a will to live and feel pain just like we do and put that together with the fact that meat is not all that good for us I can live with out it... I new someone who was a big meat eater until they went to work in the x-ray department in a hospital and he saw for himself what meat can do to your system...
