I have had this happen to me too with my boss... well she is not my boss anymore. Eventually she threatened me enough that I became scared to go anywhere or do anything. I quit that job and have been in recovery for 2 years. I now have a new job and I have found a really wonderful boss who understands me. I am slowly getting used to being out in public again. Every day gets a bit easier. Don't let that mean boss of yours get to you. I wish that I had complained about my mean boss, but I am putting it all behind me now.

Contact NAMI National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. They would be able to give you the proper resources and point you into the right direction to help deal with this. - DNatureofDTrain http://www.nami.org

Why is your boss threatening your job? It can't be just because you have been diagnosed with depression.

You will need a letter from your doctor stating you have this, because, depression is considered a disability. Give it to him, making note what day he received it, then he would have to deal with the courts over it.

i hope it improves as this is not legal for him / her to do as long as you can perform your normal tasks to the best of your abitlty he can not do anything .see your dr he can give you a certificate that should help your boss to understand some more .Depression at times can dbe so debillitating but if you continue with the medication your dr has prescribed you will improve and that medication does take up to a month to six weeks for the full effect to come through .keep in contact with your dr and if the current medication isn`t having the propper effect it may need to be changed

I can't give you any advice about whether or not they could fire you because of it,but I do know that if the meds you are taking for it prevent you from doing your job in a safe manner then they can tell you that you are not allowed to take those meds while at work.

Your boss can be brought up on charges. Find his boss or call department of labor. He is being prejudice.

Sounds a bit like what I went thru recently. I had a hard time controlling my emotions and was frequently blowing up at coworkers for little things, crying for the smallest reasons, or being super super hyper all of this cycling over and over. I applied for a position in my store and was denied the position becase of my "emotional instability" and they believed the sales position was more stressfull than my current cashier position. Another issue was my sleep problems and falling asleep thruout the day for no reason. I was told that even if medicated I was considered a liability and could still be fired (this of course is when I still believed I was narcoleptic which I was diagnosed with as a teen). The point is, I am now on trileptal(mood stabilizer) and wellbutrin (anti-depressant) and they are working wonderfully. I suggest trying for the wellbutrin. My friend is now on it after several tries with other meds for her depression and she is seeing a positive change as well. Good luck.

your job will only be threaten if your depression affects your output. just try to fight that depression & concentrate more on your job as to help yourself fight for it.

It's unfair to your part that your boss threatened your job, file a vacation may be if your not around your boss will forget you and maintain your tranquilizer so you be calm and your depression will not attack your mind.

The only way your boss can use this against you legally is if it has impacted your job performance in a negative way. Are you calling out of work alot? Are you late to work? Late coming back from your breaks? Have you slowed down on your job? Not completing your assigned tasks on time? If your illness is making you an undesirable employee than your boss has every right to build a case against you for termination. However, if you are a good employee and your boss wants to get rid of you because you have been diagnosed with depression, then that is against the law. It is a form of discrimination.
