Full form of the SMPS is Switch mode power supply. It is an equipment located inside cabinet of your desktop PC. It is used to supply power to motherboard. You can see a fan at backside of your computer. Fan is also one part in smps. This fan is used to control temperature of your computer. If your computer is not in the air conditioned room this will used to stabilize the temperature of computer.

You have to remove your cabin. Inside cabin you will find a rectangular box. You can easily recognize by seeing label on it. Try to fix it using manual. I cannot give correct information because every pc has variation. I dont know how is your pc was installed. Try with manuals. Be careful because it is power supplier. If you dont know its better to call technician.

SMPS stands for switch mode power supply. Purpose of smps is to provide regulated and rectified voltages. All electronics equipments works on dc supply. so smps provides that. It is inside cabinet and one fan has also there. computer mother board requires different different voltage for operation part so it is full fil by smps.
