Looking to purchase an Andriod phone

Canada

Once I saw that android phones were open source, could support 2 SIM cards, browse the internet, take photos, store my pictures, - well I was hooked. But this is Canada and for a country that once led the world in telephone use, we are now woefully behind the times. An android phone will do everything I need while on the road. Right now I'm looking for phone recommedations. I tend to be a bit rough on my equipment and need something that's going to survive a couple of falls. Also, plan to add programs of my own, photos from my own systems, so connectivity to existing devices is important to me. And.. if anyone has an android in Canada - which of the providers support these phones? Can I just purchase a phone and trot over to Rogers, or Virgin and have them flash the sim card? Am also super cheap, and do not like to pay for long distance? Has anyone been able to connect a magicJack to an android phone? Thanks for all your help.

Wow I never knew about android phones, too and this is the first time I am hearing about it! I heard about smart phones and it did all of these things but don't know about SIM cards, In India I have seen people carrying phones which can support 2 SIM cards but don't know about there! But its a really cool phone to begin with, I once got a phone from Canada which could also support two SIM cards! So I am guessing there are android phones over there. I got a SAMSUNG phone from Rogers!
