Removing Dirt from Water Bottles

Have you ever notice that after long periods of usage, your water bottle would not seem as clear and as see-through as when you first bought it? What is more, the rim where you drink from starts to smell and black residue collates there. I hate it and i constantly find myself spending lots of time trying to remove them frequently. Does anyone have any idea how to remove those dirt effectively and quickly?
