It may be true for some people but that's not usually what causes my nightmares. My worst nightmares are caused by eating too many carbs too close to bedtime. Sugar and pasta are the worst. They both will trigger horrible nightmares. If I have to eat something before bedtime I try to stick to proteins. A couple bites of chicken or cheese or hard boiled egg. They don't bother my sleep. Stress or negativity doesn't usually trigger nightmares for me, it usually keeps me from sleeping at all. I get terrible insomnia when I'm stressed out.

Some scientific definition describes nightmares caused by daily pressure, and unhappy events. I don't know much of it, but at least this explanation convinces me a bit. So, if you had nightmare, it might caused by your daily activities or daily experience that you don't want to confront.

i have beens tressed lately and I had a nightmare just last night. I think it might be because I feel less safe and secure because my dad got hit by a car walking down the street last week. Actually one week ago tonight.
