I just found out from my Mother, who was watching the news this morning, that once you put any information up on Facebook, they have the right to keep the infomation indefinately, even if you close your account! I was wondering if any of you knew this? I think a lot of us use and enjoy Facebook, it is a really fun site to keep in contact with friends and all, but how do you feel about Facebook keeping all information that is posted on their site forever? Do you think that's fair?

I also read something about them owning the rights to anything you submit to facebook, so even if you upload personal pictures, they would own the rights to them. I do hope this is not the case. I am a facebook member but don't really use it.

Just seen on the news tonight that facbook have decided to go back to the old rules because of all the criticism they have received. But they also said they will be making changes in the future, whatever that means.

Good luck to you Zoner. I know I plan on spending a little less time on Facebook, now that I know this information. Just had to share it with you all!

I know I read this, this morning. It is a scary thought. I'm not too worried really though about them taking pictures. I'm probably gonna stay on it anyway.

I'm gonna stay on it too, but it certainly gives me a moment of thought before I so much as post a picture on it! Thanks for the response!

No problem and you're welcome. Same here I'm a bit more cautious now as to what I'm gonna add there. It makes us all think now.

I did not know that and I think that is a little unfair because a lot of people put their information on there for their friends to be able to contact them. I am a little weary of facebook now.

This is really absurd!why they will keep our information after we cancelled our account?I think in friendster.com also they will keep our account after cancelling.

The owner must be alittle weird. I wonder why someone would want to keep information on someone. I signed up with facebook around 5 years ago i dont remember if they ask for your whole address if not. If so that is kinda creepy they probably thing some girls are real cute and they just gonna stalk them or something. Its a weird world out there and what people do are very creepy. I just dont get why facebook would want someones information who doesnt have an account on there website anymore. Its a free website and they dont really have tomcuh information to steal your identity so that could be a good thing in a way.

I beleive also that is is pretty harmless, but also strange that they would want to keep the silly things that people put on facebook. I know, I put silly stuff on there too! Why would anyone be interested in keeping photos and stories and videos of all of the weird people out there in the world? I can't figure it out, either, but I just wanted to give all of you guys the heads up. Thanks for responding!
