As much as I tried... I just could not Accept 'Be Kind Rewind' as Art...

I want very hard to call Be Kind Rewind an inventive and creative film, and that its fantastic for that. Yet I feel that regardless of all its 'creative artistic content' it failed very much at delivering a solid film that is believable. The whole youtube being sold as VHS tapes, and people paying big bucks for twenty minute pieces of footage is just unrealistic. The thing is that if it was being absurd, for the sake of it, I would not imagine that it would ask of you to take it seriously.. as the film seems to do. I did like the artistic ways that Gondry the director provided special effects. Also, I felt that all the main characters were charming and enjoyably funny. However at the end of it all, the fact that I could not 'believe' the story... it just left me feeling like I had seen a film of less than awesome quality. What did you think of 'Be Kind Rewind'?

I liked the idea of the movie but I think it could have been done better. There were funny bits in it and I had a few laughs, but a lot of the "funnier" moments seems to be more wierd than funny. I usually like Jack Black but didn't think much of him in this movie. I think it was a good role for Mos Def though.

I most surely agree with all of your sentiments. Your lil' paragraph sums the film up nicely. Sadly the concept held decent potential, but unfortunately the idea was excecuted poorly.

My husband and I didn't like it at all. It was recommended to us by a friend of his but we just didn't think it was that funny and we like Jack Black and think he's funny in most movies.

Hopefully our comments here will save others from wasting away time, on a mediocre film :)
