Up here where I am it started some years ago. Our area is famous for textiles and there are many factories which closed over the last five years leaving many with no job. This has affected everything. If people have less or no money to spend in the shops they close. That's what happened four years ago to the shop where I had worked for many years. Since then I have been in and out of jobs and it's difficult. I do all the jobs I can find which means some months were like December when I had a job in the morning, another in the afternoon and another in the evening. Since mid January that is no longer the case and I'm only doing a part-time job in the hope that things will alter soon. I fear that will not be the case very soon though

At least you have managed to sell your business. Up here there are many places up for sale and nothing is moving. I hope once your new venture takes off we won't be losing you here especially as you've only just landed. Good luck and real good English you have too! Complimenti!
