The first two opened in November 2001 and 02. 3, 4, and 5 opened in the summer so they must have learned something from that. And looking at the movies coming up in 2009, I think they were very smart to wait. The "blockbuster" schedule for this coming summer is a little bleak. StarTrek, Wolverine and Terminator in May, the as-yet-uncast Superman: Man of Steel and Transformers in June. Land of the Lost is also coming out in June but for some reason I have trouble believing that a Will Ferrell remake of a cult classic and terrifically bizarre TV series is going to be a blockbuster. The only thing to really, directly, challenge HP in July is Ice Age 3. Then there is G.I. Joe in August.

Oh! my problem too. i dont believe why they did it. well, according to Alan Horn , Warner bros. executive, "they needed to guarantee the studio a major blockbuster in 2009" and they think summer is the best time for it. also, sources say that if HBP was released in november than Warner Bros's profits may have looked down in 2009 with successes of Harry potter 5 & 6 and ofcourse dark night. well i cant wait for it. thats why it has got0 "CANT wait for it nickelodian award" even before the release!!!

Yeah, that was very old issue, months ago before the first scheduled showing date. There are rumors that they are intimated by Twilight that's why they moved the release date but Warner Brothers is saying that it's related to the writer's strike that happened and it would be more profitable if it would be released this coming July. Geez, 'can't wait to see Half-Blood Prince, I just hope that this would be a great one so that we could all say, it's worth the wait.
