My wife is 29 yrs old and she had undergone an heart surgery when she was around 9 yrs of age and since then she is very fine and healthy. Doctor says it was Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) for which surgery was performed to close some hole. Now my wife is pregnant and this is her first pregnancy and now its her 5th month, she is perfectly normal and healthy as of now. I am just worried if her long back heart surgery will have any effect on her/baby during labour? Please let us know what precautions to take for a safe and normal delivery. Is normal delivery is preferred or C-section in her case keeping in mind both my wife's and the baby's health. Thank you very much.

Hello Sunikonda, I think the first thing, we should say congratulations to you, Congratulate you will become a father, and you will the best father. but, for the medicine questions, I am very regret that i can't provide any more mind to you, except checking to the doctor in regular and hear the doctor's mind. Wish your wife and baby both are health! Happy every day for your family!

Unless the doctors advised against it everything should be good. Poeple with heart problem have kids all the time. Your wife and child should do great in delivery. THe best thing would be for you to go to the doctor with you wife and ask the doctor any and all questions. tell him what you are worried about and he well let you know if you have cause to worry. Good luke.

Well I would say to ask your doctor, they know whats best in situations like this, but if your wife is doing good and she's healthy like you said, then there probably won't be any problems. I myself have had two heart surgeries, I'm 37 yrs.old and have been advised not to have children, I'm doing pretty good, but I'm on alot of different heart medicines and if I got pregnant they would harm the baby, and I can't afford not to be on them, so in a situation like mine its best not to let it happen. As for the delivery again ask your doctor, pregnancy does do alot to a woman's body, they go through alot of changes.

Your concern is understood, as pregnancy does add burden to heart. From my experience, fresh air is most important. Metal stress also means a lot for blood and nerve systems, which are sensitive to emotional changes. Consult the doctors' at regular basis, and keep your proper care to accopany her special period, to bring about a happy birth.
