Grandson's Birthday Party

We had everyone over for my grandson's second birthday yesterday and it turned out to be a nice sunny day despite the weatherman's forecast of rain! Some of you may remember the ordeal about the gift bags. It turned out that my daughter did do the gift bags for the adults but she put my grandson's birthday picture in them, which she was planning on giving family members anyway. So this way she pleased everyone--what can I say? She's a smart girl :)
I want to thank everyone that commented on the previous discussion on the gift bags!

kareng the thing to do is have gift bags for the guests at baby showers also. Who knew it is even in the internet as being a good host.
My daughter hosted her brother's girlfriend's baby shower and gave gift bags when people left. She put fun things in it and also sonogram photos in the bag. To me that is going way out but I guess it is the thing to do.

Yes, I have seen having gift bags for guests at baby showers and even bridal showers and for the attending kids at birthday parties, but not for adults attending a child's birthday party. That is where the conflict came up. It turned out well though :) Have a wonderful day!

I do not thing adults need to receive gift bags when they attend a child's birthday party.
For my son's 9 or 10th birthday party I went to Costco and bought a bag of gummy worms, baseball cards and something else and white paper bags. I made gift bags up with the gummy worms and base ball cards in it. The boys loved them. I did not give the gift bags out until the boys where ready to leave which was normal. My son did not even know about the gift bags. He loved them also. The stupid gummy worms where the biggest hit.
We even let the boys make their own pizza's we got the Boboli pizza crust and sauce and all the toppings and let them go for it. They had not done anything like that and had a ball. My kitchen was a war zone when they where finished but what the heck they had a lot of fun and it did not cost as much as other entertainment would have.

Precious. How old is your grandson? Looks like between 3 and 5. Handsome little fella. The red head must be Dad. Thank you so much for sharing. At first I thought, ok I am new to MyLot, this must be something Karen did not tell me about, regarding the picture, but thought I would check to see if you forgot to download the picture. Thank you for sharing.

thanks so much for keeping us all updated around here at Mylot pertaining to the gift bags. what a neat idea! whoo hoo! thanks so much for also sharing the photograph of your grandson getting ready to blow out his birthday candles. my ten year old son's birthday is this Saturday and he will be eleven years old. i guess that i need to be planning a birthday party myself this coming week. lol it seems like that there is always something going on, birthday parties or a holiday of some kind to celebrate. i enjoy having birthday parties and i enjoy celebrating all of the holidays as well. and i am glad that you-all had a nice sunny day on the day of the birthday party.

Hi Karen, I am so glad you had a wonderful day for your grandson's birthday. The weather cooperated, and you Jambalaya pleased everyone's pallet. That was a great idea about the gift bags, putting the pictures inside for one saved on postage to send them, or gas to drop them off. This way everyone got them at once and was able to take them home. Smart girl indeed. Did you forget to download the picture of your grandson?
